15 Best People To Follow on TikTok: A Guide for 2020by: Dustin Hawley | Friday November 22, 2019
For those who remember Vine, the platform left an open wound in the fabric of millennial society when it finally came to an unceremonious end nearly 3 years ago. But fast-forward to today, and there is a platform filling the void left behind by the video looping app.
Formerly known as Musical.ly, TikTok was once chock full of cringe-worthy lip syncing clips and embarrassingly awkward dance routines. But over the past year or so, TikTok users have been getting more and more creative, curating content like the short sketches we used to see in the Vine skits that captured our hearts and captivated audiences worldwide.
At 15 seconds in duration, videos on TikTok are more than double the length of those on Vine. And this growing platform isn't limited to sharing straight recordings of themselves. TikTok users can also add music, effects, and even sound bites to their videos. This has made TikTok a platform where many creators get uber creative with their content. And while we agree that there's nothing that can replace Vine, TikTok and it's massive growth make it all but impossible to not compare it to its predecessor.
Gen Z-ers are picking up with TikTok where millennials left off with Vine. The platform lends itself to some hilarious and creative content. If you're reading this, you likely aren't super familiar with the platform yet. That's where we come in! We've put together a guide on the best 15 people to follow on TikTok. We also leveraged our relationships with top influencers and utilized one of the members of this list to assist us in curating this collection TikTok superstars. Don't worry — you can thank us later. Let's get started!
1. Cash Baker
Cash Baker is the ever-so-slightly younger brother of another TikTok superstar: Maverick. Both he and his brother release music, and they rose to fame when they were 16 years old after the release of their record "The Way You Move," which quickly went viral on TikTok and shot the brothers into the spotlight.
It's hard to name just one person for this list because the Baker family is a team of social media stars: Maverick, Cash, and their sister Lani collectively have 28.9 million followers on their TikTok accounts. As you will eventually see later in this article, Tik Tok can be a family affair for many.
Before achieving social media stardom, Hoddy graduated from Navarro College in Texas. He was previously known on TikTok under the username Hoddygaming. Today, he has gone on to garner more than 989,000 followers on the platform. He's also served as the director of a non-profit organization called U Matter, where both he and his wife Alex work.

4. Zach King
Like many of these top TikTok influencers, Zach King is yet another social media star who got his start on Vine. His videos have been 'internet famous' for years, primarily focusing on what he calls “digital sleight of hand”. These digital magic tricks were so captivating, they led him to win YouTube’s NextUp Creators contest in 2013. He is arguably the "king" of TikTok (pun intended) and has garnered a staggering number of followers on the platform with over 26.7 million.
5. Jayde Vincent
Jayde Vincent got her start on TikTok by posting humorous dancing and singing clips with her younger sister. She is also notable for running her own YouTube channel, where she shares a diverse range of content for her followers. This includes a video she posted in February of her dancing inside the world's largest dinosaur.
6. Jacob Sartorius
Jacob Sartorius was one of the most popular stars on Musical.ly, the original iteration of TikTok. The platform helped a then 16-year-old Jacob to launch a somewhat successful music career. Sartorius has over 21.4 million followers on the platform.
Johnathan Lynch, known more affectionately as Thisaintjay, is a comedy skit creator on TikTok who has earned more than 3.3 million fans on the platform. He has earned more than 1.7 million fans on the platform.
He studied at the University of Oklahoma and proceeded to attend the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Additionally, outside of studying dentistry, he has also trained to be a personal trainer.
There's no rule that says all the members of our list have to be human. So it's only fitting that we throw the internet's favorite Pomeranian into the mix. JiffPom is a tiny dog who happens to hold two Guinness world records for his speed on two of his four little legs. Outside of his undeniable cuteness and charm, he's also very trendy and has made multiple celebrity appearances, including in the music video for Katy Perry's song "Dark Horse."
This member of our list was famous for his 6-second, comedic videos during Vine's heyday. He was able to accumulate more than 60,000 followers and 30 million loops over the life of the app. Fast forward to today, and after becoming active on TikTok, he has earned over 1 million fans on the platform. She began posting frequently to TikTok in January of this year and has also amassed more than 171,000 followers to her zahr4 Instagram account.
14. Jason Coffee & Family
For some, TikTok is a family affair. This is especially true for creators like Jason Coffee, who has shared the entertaining antics of his family online and gained a massive following for him and his children: Peyton, Isaac, and Caleb. Jason's online pseudonym "Coffee" was derived from his time as a Starbucks barista before he began making videos on Vine (are we sensing a theme here?) and later switching over to TikTok.
15. Kristen Hancher
Countless lip-syncing videos and dozens of hair color changes have defined Kristen Hancher on TikTok. They have also greatly contributed to her gaining the incredibly large fanbase she has today. Millions have watched the 20-year-old through years lip-sync her way to stardom, and it's paid off. Hancher is a member of Jake Paul's Team 10 squad and lives in the infamous Los Angeles mansion full of other social media celebrities. Oh, what a life.
